From 1946 some a/m to J'lem was routed ROME-BEIRUT-DAMASCUS (or v/v)-AMMAN-JERUSALEM; in 1948-49 War, Syria forwarded all mail for Palestine (usually J'lem) via Jordan, who would assess whether it should be delivered. Bet. Jan-Mar '49 this mail link cut by war & a/m couldn't be routed from Syria to Jordan, here using instruct. cachet (K-T1). K-Type-I h/s & returned to UK; then resent, correctly to Israel via HAIFA but as addressed still "Jordan" erroniously marked "Pas de Service via Israel" (K-Type-H-I.2) and returned again - and resent a 3rd time, now reaching the plant (noted "warehouses" in Heb. manuscript). Jordanian "No Service" mail to Israel: misrouted 21 JAN 1955 Hebrew University stationary cv ex SHEFFIELD to JERUSALEM "Israel", whose country of destination apparently overlooked & cv misrouted via AMMAN (b/s); returned to UK undelivered & resent, whereupon enclosed w/mimeograph (K-T-M2) dated 15 FEB 1955 in which J'lem PO mgr apologizes on behalf of Manager of London Post for delayed delivery as cv "erroniously sent from England to the Old City of Jerusalem which is presently occupied by the enemy". At this time J'lem PO had no access to TLV K-T-M1.1 "mail delayed, misrouted to Arab country" boxed h/s and so used personalized mimeograph - rare, only 4 of this type known issued, here on LKD of use.

As Jordan had no postal relations w/Israel, she used these UPU required Bulletins, for identification of postal handling irregularities, to communicate them onward to the dispatching source. As internal documents, these rare and very few held in private hands (only 3 ex Jordan vis. Israel no-service are known).
