Rev.: Al-Aqsa Mosque (Jerusalem); leg. in exergue "Wisam al-Ikdam al-Askari" (Order of Military Gallantry). Medal instituted by the King in 1946 & initially awarded to all ranks of the Arab Legion for displaying the highest gallantry under fire; later expanded to a general decoration for the highest gallantry - also awarded posthuously. Medal suspended by ring & attached to a metal base looped by a green-white-yellow ribbon.
