Founded 1928-1929 as a non-partisan "Jewish youth cultural movement" for ages 12-18; taught members modern Hebrew, Jewish history & songs/ dances of Jewish settlers in Palestine; modelled on world boy-scout movement & incorp. agricultural training for members' future in Palestine. Reached 2500+ members worldwide within 10 years; merged w/Dror movement, 1982.
