Depicts goat rising towards Israeli flag set on a mound, w/leg.: "5719 1959 A Decade to the Liberation of Eilat". The area, then known as Um el Rash Rash, was captured by Israeli forces in 1949 & served as military base until the civilian settlement of Eilat began in 1952; declared a city in 1959. The 10th anniv. was no trifling matter, w/PM Ben-Gurion (who saw the settlement of the Negev as Israel's future), the mayor and IDF top brass participating in the celebrations.
