In 1555 Paul IV issued the canon, "Cum nimis absurdum" establishing the Roman Ghetto for the Jews, imposing seclusion & wearing distinctive signs. Image on this medal is metaphor to depict Paul IV's public disgracement & banishment of nephews from Rome for their scandalous behavior upon receiving positions of power there.
