Germany > Mecklenburg: Parchim town copper token (ND); size: 1.85cm; weight: 2g. Obverse bears the name "Saul" and "Parchim" with a six-pointed star below on reverse. Possibly a Jewish-related token: there is a Carl Ludwig August Saul registered as being born there in 1840; with another source stating that Parchim had the largest Jewish community in Mecklenburg, reaching 107 members in 1830, it is possible that the community minted such a token for charity or under the auspicies of a business. The German Neumann catalogue (32843) sheds no light on this piece; Schlessinger cat. #1681.
