US > New York: $1 donation token for Jewish "Home of the Sons and Daughters of Israel" home for the aged (Robert Leonard - Obverse C), circa. 1920s; size: 33mm; weight: 10.4g. There was a $400,000 fund drive in 1923 and a $100,000 fund drive in 1928 for the establishment of this home, and this token could have been issued in connection with either of those drives. These tokens were made in such large numbers that three dies were required.

US > New York: good luck/fund raising token for Hebrew Kindergarten & Infants Home, circa. 1920s-30s; size: 32.75mm; weight: 7.2g. Obverse depicts image of child within heart-shaped frame of olive branches and legend "Hebrew Kindergarten & Infants Home | 35 & 37 Montgomery St. N.Y.C./Central & Plainview Aves. Far Rockaway". On reverse legend within hear-shaped frame of olive branches "Have a Heart Help the Orphans and G-d Will Help You" with slogan "Good Luck Coin" below. This institution opened in 1905 and functions to this day. Three different fundraising tokens were issued, all containing the address of the day school on Montgomery Street as well as the addresses of the orphanage on Plainview Avenue and Central Avenue, in Far Rockaway. The most common of the three tokens was issued in connection with the August 1923 fund drive for the completion of that building, and this token was probably issued at a later date in connection with another fund drive.

Obverse bears image of the building with 25c on either side and the word "Souvenir" below; in double-ringed frame around, the legend "Jewish Home For Aged • Portland - Maine". On reverse images of elderly Jewish man and woman on either side of legend based on quotation from the Bible in Hebrew and English, "Do Not Cast us Off at Our Old Age" and "Keep Me | Good Luck". The home was founded in 1929 and based on North Street, where it remained until 1965. It continues to exist as the Cedars Nursing Care Center.

Israel: "Yeshiva Meah Shearim" blessing/good luck token, circa. 1960's; bronze; not maker-marked; size: 25.5mm x 30.5mm; weight: 5.8g. Obverse: English legend & Hebrew good wish for "Blessing and Success". Reverse: Star of David & word "Zion" in center. This Jewish religious studies school is one of the most prominent ones in Jerusalem, founded in 1885, and located in the neighborhood of Meah Shearim ("A Hundred Gates"), which is usually known for its strong anti-Zionist tendencies, though this Yeshiva is Zionist-religious. The Yeshiva experienced periods of economic distress in the past and it may be that this token of blessing was given in exchange for donations. In VF.
