This accoutrement would have been worn over the dark blue uniform of the Police for dress parade presentation, and on the garter would be affixed a larged silver colored emblem of the Palestine Police (identical in design to the force's hat badge). Estimated date is 1947 as this was originally received together with other Police items dated to that year. Scarce and unusual, in excellent condition.

The OCA was formed from a merge with the Palestine Police Association and the Old Comrades Association following the end of the Mandate in 1948; the OCA existed until 2014 when it superseded by the British Palestine Police Association (BPPA).

Depicts patron saint St. George slaying a dragon (i.e. Nazi Germany); known in Hebrew as "Kheyl Mitnadvim Ha'Eretz-Israeli", it numbered 2,000 men as home guard force. Formed in Aug. 1940, funded by the Mandate, and based in the 3 main cities, it was open to all British subjects in Palestine & local citizens, tasked with assisting the regular British Army in preparation for war and protecting internal security; there were 2 companies in Jerusalem. In excellent condition, slight bend in field; rare.

Dr. Matot considered pioneer of childrens' health in Israel, among wounded in 1948 Arab attack on Hadassah convoy.
