Clear strike of the Jerusalem sorting office's interim period 'Rosette' postmark, tied to a top-left corner 1st issue 5m interim local Jerusalem single frank (Ba #101) on an unaddressed cover. The frank entered use on 9 May; the rosette postmark is usually documented as starting its appearance on mail as of 13 May (although some earlier dated mail is known) - however as the inner circle is a little wavy (due to this device's known gradual deterioration until its final day of use on 20 June), this is probably not a proof strike but rather a favor cancel made some time between 20-25 May 1948, stil retaining its proportional border lines and clear lettering & rosettes. As the sorting office was a closed department to the public this cover was probably made by an employee of the post office. A nice clear example of this postmark's design.
