1950 Independence 1st Day on overseas mail to CHINA: 23-4-1950 official Independence Day airmail commercial 1st Day Cover from TEL AVIV (return addressed HAIFA) to SHANGHAI China, franked 120pr at the FA-2a postage period rate using 1st day 2x each 20pr and 40pr stamps, tied by 2 strikes of TEL AVIV-40 postmark; backstamped arrival postmark (all in Chinese) - this unusual as not registered mail + 2x censor cachets on front; locally re-routed. Top right corner of back-flap missing; peripheral tear at top; creased left edge. Scarce destination - China gave de jure recognition of Israel on 1 March 1949. Estimated value $325+
