1948 1st postage dues on demonetized mail: 7-6-1948 local HAIFA/BAT GALIM commercial cover on business stationary, franked with Mandate 10m Ba #97 stamp per domestic letter rate, but demonetized as of 16 May and now unaccepted, so not cancelled (correctly, per regulations) & cover postmarked in field by the dispatching Haifa Head Post Office postmark, and taxed twice the 10m letter rate (manuscript notation) for the deficiency, paid next day on arrival by the addressee with multiple 4x 5m 1st postage dues series franks (Ba #PD2) in left margin horizontal strip tied by 2 strikes of Haifa Head Post Office postmark; cut open at right; early postage dues cover. Very fine.
