Franco-Prussian War era incoming overseas mail: 9 AUG 1870 stamped folded letter from ST. PIERRE (Martinique) to PARIS, franked 70c using 3-color French Colonial frankings (Mi 3, 4, 5) tied by 3 strikes of the local MQE initialled lozenge obliterators + 'paid to destination' red PD cachet; front-stamped 27 AUG 1870 arrival - about a week before the downfall of the Second Empire & the establishment of the Government of National Defence (4 Sept), and 3 weeks before the start of the siege of Paris. The war lasted from 19 July 1870 to 28 January 1871. Very fine.
