German Post Office in the Holyland: 31-8-1912 unsevered complete reply postcard on German Levant prepaid postal stationary (Ba 404) with pencil written German message on back, from JAFFA via German PO JERUSALEM to LEEHEIM Germany, with preprinted 10pf Germania frank overprinted French 10 Centimes & tied by full strike of German PO local postmark + full strike of rare AUS JAFFA boxed handstamp in violet (Ba #409/St. #244) of the Jaffa sub agency; front-stamped 10-09-1912 arrival; very fine & rare as a complete RPC; Hans Muenz expertized. German Holyland post office mail between Jaffa & Jerusalem was transported by horse and wagon as the Ottoman authorities refused the use of railroad service to the European post offices in the country.
