WWII/Holocaust era camps > Pardubitz/Pardubice: 4 X 1942 local civilian cover in Czech (no return address) from sender at PARDUBICE PRACOVNI TABOR (labor camp), franked 1.20k using Bohemia-Moravia stamp & tied by local #2 bilingual postmark + violet boxed camp censor cachet; slit open at top. The camp at Pardubice was one of several created by the Protectorate government through an order of 9 March 1942 to initiate a "preventive fight against crime": by its regulations the Criminal Police could apply "protective custody" on criminal and asocial elements and place them in "collection camps" - the fomer forced labor camp here and in the other affected locales turned into these "collection camps".
