WWII mail from Gold Coast: 5 MAR 1941 surface mailed cover from BOGORO (Begoro) for "renewal periodical subscriptions" (back) to book store LONDON, franked 1½d per period rate & tied by full strike of local postmark; marked on front by Gold Coast censor 8 & opened/resealed with CCSG catalogued Ty-IA "GOLD COAST | OPENED BY CENSOR." label at left; slit open at top. Interesting period cover: as surface mail it reflects the period between 1941-42 when, as a locale surrounded by hostile Vichy French colonies, little airmail could reach it, and the existing BOAC West African air route had to keep far away from the coast - as such even by air, little civilian airmail could be carried, and priority was given to military supplies.
