Israel: khaki denim hat of Rechovot Municipality, circa. 1950s. Visored hat marked "Municipality of Rechovot" in black, in Hebrew on front. Inside on crown is diamond-shaped thick-paper makers-mark similar in style to diamond marks of other Israeli hat makers of the time; sweat-band is of brown faux-leather type as used in Israeli military and civilian hats of the 1950's (possible Austerity period substitute). Sweatband contains original cardboard ring insert. Khaki fashions were popular in 1950's Israel, w/PM Ben-Gurion setting the tone: suggesting mixture of popular settlement & development in atmosphere of self-defence.
