Australia, Victoria, "Levy Brothers" Jewish merchant token, 1889; struck in nickel by Stokes & Martin of Melbourne; weight: 9.2g; size: 30.25mm.

Obverse bears 4 line legend "LEVY BROS & Co LONSDALE St.E MELBOURNE" surmounted by wreath and date below; on reverse bust of Queen Victoria. Medallic rotation; beeded rim on obverse and reverse; plain rim.

In 1852 the Levy brothers, Goodman, Nathaniel and Lewis, established a luxury goods warehouse and importing business on Lonsdale Street, and the following year added a few more shops to their business. The business was still operating in 1912 on Lonsdale Street but by then also with branches in London, Hamburg and New York. In VF with a hole on the top and bottom of the token.
