WWII/Holocaust era camps > Mauthausen: 01-10-1940 dated deposit slip ('Einlieferungsschein') for 10 Reichsmark money order sent to a prisoner with a Polish name at "KZ Mauthausen Oberdonau" from ZAWIERCIE (OBERSCHLESIEN) / Upper Silesia. The postal stationary form requests on reverse "Please do not use [this space] for messages for the recipient". Around this time many Poles were transferred to this camp complex, and these consisted of artists, scientists, Boy Scouts, teachers and university professors arrested during Intelligenzaktion and the AB Action (the 2nd stage of an extermination operation to eliminate intellectuals and the upper classes of Polish society across the territories slated for eventual annexation to Germany). The posting locale was a large Jewish population center.
