Egyptian postal boycott of Israel: 16 MAR 1956 surface mailed 1st Day Cover from Stamp & Philatelic Division of the Bureau of Posts MANILA to TEL AVIV, franked 25c & tied by single strike of special First Day postmark; either misrouted via EGYPT by incorrect mailbag placement at the origin sorting office or simply seized while in transit through Suez (as was Egyptian policy at the time for Israeli goods), there censored by K-Type5 handstamp (#73) in magenta (this rare + late date use) & marked by rare Egyptian "PAS DE SERVICE" K-Type-I instructional marking handstamp in magenta (possibly applied by the same censor) - c. 30 covers known with this marking, here on earliest known date of use, and returned; backstamped 6 JUN 1956 CEBU CITY arrival (almost 3 month transit - important proving date although this is not registered mail). Mailed unsealed (possibly as printed matter though not marked such), with original correspondence enclosed - this dated 25 June 1956 and may indicate that this cover was resent.
